CIW wins $1 million to build next generation China capabilities

The Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW) at the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific has secured a significant $1 million grant from the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations 澳中基金会 to launch an exciting new initiative aimed at enhancing Australia's China expertise.
Over the next four years, the CIW China Studies Fellowship Program will support 50 Australian China Studies graduates in an enriching opportunity to study in Suzhou, China. Fellows will spend one year at Xi’an-Jiaotong Liverpool University, where they will engage in intensive language training, expand their understanding of Chinese culture and society, and enhance their academic and professional skills through elective courses, research projects, and internships with Chinese businesses. This program aims to equip the next generation of Australian leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex and evolving Australia-China relationship.
ANU Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Rebekah Brown praised the initiative, calling it “a strategic and timely investment in Australia’s China expertise and the development of future leaders in the Australia-China relationship.” Through this fellowship program, the CIW is making a significant contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
